Brief introduction to laboratory grown diamonds

Lab grown diamonds are just as "real" as natural diamonds. The formation process of a lab grown diamond takes only a fraction of the time compared to that of a natural diamond. A natural diamond usually takes 20 - 100 million years to grow under the extreme pressure and heat of our earth, while a lab grown diamond can be grown in as little as ten weeks. This does not mean that the laboratory process is easy to perform or consumes few resources. On the contrary, there are very few laboratories in the world capable of producing lab-grown diamonds that meet ELIZZA™ quality standards.

If you compare a natural diamond to a lab-grown diamond with exactly the same characteristics, you will not be able to tell the difference between the stones. By "you" we also mean professional gemologists who have the necessary equipment to perform a comprehensive analysis. Only the engraved serial number and the accompanying certificate reveal that it is a lab-grown diamond. Otherwise, the stones are indistinguishable from each other.

 

For whom are they particularly interesting?

Lab-grown diamonds are especially interesting for people who like diamonds (especially large diamonds) and want more options because of the price. Equally important, lab-grown diamonds are for people who insist that no natural product be used in their jewelry.

Budget differences

Lab grown diamonds are always the cheaper option. Since natural diamonds are in very limited supply and no two natural diamonds are exactly alike, they are more expensive compared to lab grown diamonds.

 

Are lab-grown diamonds certified by the GIA?

Yes, since there is no physical or chemical difference between lab grown diamonds and natural diamonds, they are also certified by GIA among others. ELIZZA™ offers GIA and IGI certificates optionally for all center stones (lab grown and natural).
