Basics of diamonds

Introduction

Below are some important tips to help you better understand the mysterious and enigmatic aspects of quality, price and value in the world of diamonds. As you know, each diamond is unique with exclusive, one-of-a-kind characteristics - this is due to its unreal and wondrous formation: a miracle of geology, created from a perfectly orchestrated, epoch-long exchange relationship of several elements. Numerous factors influence the purity - even the smallest nuances have a significant impact on the value of the stone. Until the mid-20th century, there was no universally accepted standard for valuing a diamond. The GIA created the first and now globally recognized standard for describing diamonds, which is divided into the following four classifications: color, clarity, cut and carat weight. The so-called 4 Cs. Today, the 4 Cs of Diamond Quality have become established as the universal method for evaluating the quality of diamonds around the world. Thanks to this standardization, diamond quality can now be communicated in a uniform language - allowing diamond customers to express precisely and explicitly which characteristics they prefer and which diamond they are interested in.

Color

Another quality criterion is the coloration of a diamond. The gradation can basically range from D (colorless) to Z (yellow-brown). ELIZZA™ uses only diamonds of grades H (fine white) to D (colorless). The principle here is: the finer the white, the more valuable the diamond. In this way, we ensure that the light falling on ELIZZA™ diamonds is reflected in rainbow colors - a true intoxication of the senses.

Cut

Another very characteristic feature of a diamond is its cut. Symmetries and balanced proportions are particularly sought-after attributes for engagement rings. Their perfect interplay is a guarantee of unique beauty and exclusivity. Outstandingly cut diamonds show clear hearts and arrows in the magnifying glass negative, which ignite the fire of the gemstone and emphasize its individual character.

Carat

The unique selling proposition carat is a sounding term to everyone and is roughly suitable as a reliable guide. It denotes the unit in which the weight of diamonds is measured. One carat is equal to 0.2 grams. With all other factors unchanged, the increasing carat value can be used as a differentiator. It should be noted that a single diamond of 1.0 carat weight has significantly more value due to bundling than four diamonds of 0.25 carat weight each individually.

Clarity

Diamonds generally captivate with their uniqueness of individual character. An infinite variety of variations. These fine nuances come about thanks to natural impurities, so-called inclusions, among other things.
